Hello! My name is Sabrey Almirol and I am currently a senior at University of Colorado Denver, where I am pursuing a Bachelors in Arts in Communications with a minor in Behavioral Cognitive Neuroscience. With becoming a graduate in the near future, I am highly interested in positions that will allow me to exercise my knowledge and skills on problem solving, effective communication, teamwork, and research.

Throughout my educational journey, I’ve learned so much about myself and the values that I hold dear. These values have become an integral part of who I am, and I am grateful for the opportunity to incorporate them into my work. My strong work ethic, dedication, and eagerness to learn are just a few of these values that I know will make me an asset to any workplace. I am confident that with my passion and desire to succeed, I can make a significant impact on any team I join.

Education

I’ve put a lot of effort into my academic work, and I’m proud to showcase some of that work here. Each piece represents a unique experience and required different skills that I possess, ranging from research and analysis to creativity and problem-solving. This highlights the importance of each assignment, and how it has allowed me to grow and develop as a student. 

 I am a communication major with a passion for understanding the human mind. Pursuing a minor in behavioral cognitive neuroscience has allowed me to explore the intersection of communication and psychology, which has deepened my understanding and empathy for others. Throughout my academic journey, I have maintained a 3.8 GPA, a testament to my dedication and hard work. As I approach my graduation date in May 2024, I am excited to apply my skills and knowledge to the workforce and make an impact in the world.

Working with a focus on analysis, research, problem solving, informing, and creativity, this Portfolio is a celebration of my academic growth. Maintaining creativity even in the most mundane of tasks, I ensure that my work is informative yet interesting. Throughout my assignments, I have found enjoyment in creating works that are reflective of my academic aspirations. 

Informative Medically

This was an informative project that addresses the topic of flu vaccination. It provides valuable information about the benefits and risks of flu vaccination, presented in an eye-catching, visually appealing format. The project is medically focused on helping individuals make informed decisions about flu vaccination. I am committed to providing accurate information and promoting informed decision-making when it comes to health. As I aspire to work in healthcare, I think keeping projects like this in mind was nice to have and it keeps that door open.

Hypothetical University Lecture (Consent)

This assignment I took with deep belief that education is key when it comes to increasing awareness and promoting healthy behaviors. Which is  why creating this flyer on a hypothetical event at a university on consent, where they were able to learn from experts in the field and explore the concept of consent in greater depth. This is a crucial topic that has far-reaching implications for all of us, both personally and socially. My goal was to convince students that attending this lecture, you’ll be taking an important first step in increasing your awareness and becoming an advocate for consent culture. Which (this topic) is key to society hypothetical.

Eating Disorders

I am committed to informing and educating about vital topics that affect our society. One of my key topics of focus has been shedding light on the prevalence of eating disorders in South Korea. Through my research, I have uncovered the ways in which societal pressures and regulations have contributed to the normalization of eating disorders in this region. It is crucial that these issues are addressed and brought to the forefront, and I am dedicated to doing my part to promote awareness and understanding.

Relevant Experience

Make A Wish Foundation

I aim to showcase my dedication to personal growth and my passion for making a difference. Volunteering at Make A Wish Foundation has taught me the importance of giving back to the community and helping others. Through my experiences, I have learned that listening closely to other people’s stories and passions is essential in building a strong community. I hope to connect with people who share these values and work together.

Project Cure

My experiences within the humanitarian sector. My time volunteering at Project Cure has allowed me to gain new skills and insights into the inner workings of the sector. From packaging health supplies to assisting in disaster relief efforts, I have learned the importance of teamwork while working towards a common goal, to help those in need. Through this experience, I was able to gain a lot of communication amongst others and we were all going through this bonding experience while giving back to those who needed it.

Denver Rescue Mission

As an individual who values giving back to the community, I found it especially rewarding to be able to provide support to those in need. My experience with packaging and distributing food and essential items to underprivileged communities in Denver, particularly during the holidays, was truly fulfilling. I believe that acts of kindness and lending a helping hand can contribute to making the world a better place.

9 Health Fair

One of the experiences that has impacted me the most involves my involvement in a health fair. During this event, I was able to contribute to the mission of promoting healthy lifestyles and community engagement by informing people with my knowledge while assisting with the organization of the event. This event solidified my passion for helping others and encouraged me to continue pursuing opportunities to make positive changes in my community.
